Aloha kakahiaka in Aliana or Kalihi waena how to join you this morning to bring you your older local pool or your Hawaiian word of the week this week or a little Acapulco is Mahalo according to the Hawaiian language dictionary Mahalo means thanks or gratitude under the Hawaiian word of the week Mahalo was chosen in recognition of our upcoming holiday of Thanksgiving this is an event where we practice giving thanks and celebrating all that we are thankful for in our lives such as our friends are family our homes and our school but there's a fun fact on November 28th 1843 the Hawaiian kingdom was recognized as an independent Sovereign Nation by the countries of Great Britain and France so on the 28th in Hawaii we celebrate la or Hawaiian Independence Day we have so much to be grateful for today here at school at home and Beyond so let's practice giving thanks look around think about all the things that you are thankful for how can you show that you're thankful while you can show that you're thankful by giving a hug to someone saying something nice or something as simple as saying thank you can go a long way in expressing your gratitude let me give you a challenge take a look around your classroom find your teacher look at your teacher and on the count of three I want you tell your teacher thank you my Coco are you ready 1 2 3 thank you see that wasn't so hard but saying something as simple as thank you for the long wig and showing your gratitude so go out Lions show your gratitude say thank you always remember we are the Lions we are the future aloha
