Principal's Message

Principal Daniel Larkin
I am extremely proud to have the honor of being the Principal here at Kalihi Waena. I have been working in Kalihi for 12 years, first at Kalakaua Middle School for 8 years, now at Kalihi Waena for 4 fantastic years.  I have a passion for the students here and am thrilled to be here serving our students.   As our school reaches towards an unknown future for our students with the rapid pace of technological change we are committing to innovating for our students to better prepare them.  Our amazing students continuously impress me in their drive to meet the challenges set before them and I am confident that they will be our community leaders into the future. My motto for our school is "We are the Lions.  We are the Future!" and I truly believe that our students are going to be better prepared to be our future leaders than ever before!

Aloha. Nǐ hǎo. Iọkwe. Ran Annim. Talofa. Mabuhay. Hello, and welcome back to the second quarter of our 2020-21 school year! It has been a tough start of the school year, but we've made it through thanks to our teachers, staff, and families' dedication and commitment! I am so proud to be your vice principal! This is my second year at Kalihi Waena Elementary. For many years, I was a middle and high school teacher on the island's Windward side at Olomana School. My experience with younger keiki came when I became a vice principal. Many people have told me what a loving and caring community we have at Kalihi Waena, and I have found this to be so true! I know we will continue to face challenges as we still have the stress of COVID-19 and distance learning, and so please let us know how we may support your child/ren and you. Please continue to share with your child/ren the importance of logging on to school everyday, on-time and participating. You are very important in helping your child succeed. We value and appreciate your partnership. Thank you.
