Quarter 1 Update (School Messenger 9/9/23)

Aloha Lions Ohana,

I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend!  Things around here are heating up!  We have got the start of a lot of events and things happening recently.  First and foremost today though I want to talk about our book fair happening this upcoming week.  At our book fair we have hundreds of books for your children to choose from as well as some fun and exciting things like fluffy pens and NFL posters!  We have awesome books that children love, books like "Dog Man", "Zelda", "Pokemon", "Harry Potter", and many more!  There is a book for everyone!

One REALLY cool thing this year is that parents can send their students to the fair without cash by creating an "eWallet" for them by going to our book fair website at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/kalihiwaena. In this website you can scroll down to find the eWallet section to create it for your child so they can go shopping and not risk losing the money.  Additionally, you can share that link with friends and families to have them help contribute from anywhere in the world!   On September 11th the online store opens too, and you can shop online for everything scholastic has to offer!

All students will have an opportunity to visit the fair with the following schedule.

  • Tuesday, Grade 1 and rooms D3/D4
  • Wednesday, Grade 3 and rooms C1/C2
  • Thursday, Grade K and rooms D5/D8
  • Friday, Grade 5 and rooms D6/D7

Additionally, there will be opportunities at morning recess for students who may have missed their assigned times to go in to make up the missed times.

We hope you all are as excited for this opportunity as we are!

Lastly, I have a few quick announcements.

  1. Monday, September 11th, No school
  2. Friday, September 15, there will be a makeup parent meeting for basketball for those who may have missed the sign up meeting.  Fliers will go out Wednesday.  However, parents who already signed their child up need not attend this week's meeting.

With all that being said, let's continue to Strive High with PRIDE that's the Lion Way!  Have a great weekend!

Aloha,

Mr. Larkin

Very Respectfully,
