Quarter 4 Update (School Messenger 3/26/23)

Aloha Lions ‘Ohana,

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Monday, is Prince Kūhiō Day, and so there is no school. We return to school on Tuesday. Also, Wednesday is our Regal fundraiser pick-up.  The pick-up is from 1:30 - 5:00 pm in the cafeteria. Thank you for supporting our school by purchasing Regal food products.

Did you know that Prince  Kūhiō did a lot for the people of Hawai’i? He was the first prince in the U.S. Congress. During his time, he introduced the first bill for Hawai‘i statehood (1919) and the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act (1920) which provided 200,000 acres of land used for homes for Native Hawaiians. He also got funds to construct Pearl Harbor and create Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. Mahalo Prince Kūhiō!

I look forward to seeing all of our students on Tuesday, on time, ready to learn, and have fun! Remember, we are the lions. We are the future!

Gratefully,

Mrs. Heyler

Vice Principal, Kalihi Waena
