Quarter 2 Update #5 (11/21/22 School Messenger)

Aloha Lions Ohana,

Happy Thanksgiving week!  I wanted to start today with two things I am thankful for, besides my family of course.  To start, I am thankful for all of our students, no matter their personal situations.  Without them, my life would not have the purpose and meaning it has.  Every day here is unique, eventful, and educational because we have such amazing and wonderful students who show us every day what it means to have heart.  So thank you to all of my keiki, my 466 children whom I love so much!  Next, and equally, I want to thank my amazing and resilient staff.  They have worked so hard these last few years to cope with and recover from the pandemic and have done so without expectation of reward or even acknowledgment.  To all of them, all my custodians, office staff, teachers, cafeteria workers, tutors, aides, and support staff, mahalo nui.  Without you, our school would be an empty husk.   Ok, on to announcements.

  • Tomorrow is our Papa John's pizza fundraiser.  If you don't want to cook dinner or lunch tomorrow, knowing you'll be cooking a lot on Thursday, please order a pizza and send in the receipt (it should be a sticker on the side of the box) to the office on the flyer.  If you lost the flyer, don't worry!  Just give us the receipt and we will do the rest!  Receipts have to be turned in on Wednesday, so don't forget!
  • There is no school Thursday or Friday this week, however, the office will be open Friday with minimal manning if you have business with us.
  • Our Breakfast with Santa is December 10th.  Flyers went home last week.  Please turn them in with payment as soon as possible so we can make sure to order enough food and supplies.
  • Thank you to everyone who participated in our Samurai fundraiser!  The PTA made approximately $3000!  WOW, great job!
  • Thank you to everyone who volunteered their refrigerator!  We have received a number of people who were interested in donating.  Thank you, everyone!
  • Mahalo nui to everyone who has signed up for the "School Store" and has given gift cards to the teachers for their classrooms!  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.  If you have not signed up, it isn't too late.  You can still do so and do your Christmas and/or daily shopping through there to help the school out just a bit while costing you nothing extra!

Please remember our school website kwes.org has all our flyers, announcements, and videos.  We are dedicated to making sure you all know the latest happenings and providing the best information possible to you to make your child's experience here as fruitful as possible!  We do this together because, We are the Lions. We are the Future!

Aloha,
Mr. Larkin
